The Australian Association of Pet Dog Breeders (AAPDB) is an association of breeders who are committed to breeding healthy and appropriate companion dogs for Australian families while maintaining an absolute commitment to the mental and physical wellbeing of the animals in their care.

The AAPDB has been established in response to a perceived community need to identify responsible dog breeders. The various Canine Councils in Australia set some welfare standards for stud registered purebred dog breeders however many pet owners do not want to purchase a stud registered purebred dog and prior to the formation of this association there was no means of identifying responsible professional breeders.

Members of the AAPDB are committed to animal welfare and believe that all dog breeders have responsibilities to their breeding stock, to the animals they breed and to the people who purchase their animals.

The AAPDB fulfils this commitment to their animals by encoding standards for breeding and sale of their dogs to which all members are obliged to adhere. Members are committed to breeding animals which make suitable pets for particular situations and to encouraging responsible pet ownership by providing appropriate information about the animals they breed and ensuring that new owners are educated regarding their responsibilities as pet owners

AAPDB members believe that pet dog ownership enhances human lives. They enjoy being an essential part of this relationship and they will not compromise animal welfare in the process.

The AAPDB is not yet formally incorporated but has commenced this process.
